733 Reasons to Love Santa Fe

This is the month of LOVE, where we acknowledge our hearts. Below is a list of hundreds of things to love about Santa Fe. I had a great time making this list for you of the many things I enjoy about our special City. Let me know if I’ve missed some of your favorite things!

1. The Farmers Market, where fresh food, friends, music and arts gather every week.

2. The historic Old Santa Fe Trail, connecting us to our past and today.

3. The Plaza, a jewel as the heart of our town, the center for our local community and tourism

4 to 6. Sunsets and blue skies and star filled night skies! Making every day special.

7 to 10. The moderate, glorious four-season weather. There are days that feel like we have all four seasons in one day as well! With over 300 days of sunshine, it’s easy to smile.

11 to 112. Over 100 museums and galleries, including the world-renowned Folk Art Museum and the only museum dedicated to a single woman in the US, the Georgia O’Keefe Museum.

113 to 314. A foody town with over 200 hundred restaurants, many of which are award-winning. African, Asian, New Mexican, Mexican, French, Italian, and so many more, you can’t be bored.

315. Mountain living, offering pine scented, clean air and a healthy lifestyle.

316 to 323. Sports for everyone. Walking around town, hiking, biking, running, skiing, snow shoeing, river rafting, or bird watching! Our town is surrounded by trails and natural beauty to enjoy.

324. Ten Thousand Waves. We have many spas including this world class, Japanese style spa and restaurant which transports you to another world and deep peace.

325 to 331. Dancing is alive in the City Different! Swing, Tango, Two-Stepping, Salsa, Ballet and Modern all have vendues to go out and take classes as a beginner or expert.

332. Brilliant Discourse with one of the highest PH-D’s per capita in the United States.

333 to 357. Cultivating Brilliant Minds. Higher education is rich in diversity including the Santa Fe Community College that offers a broad range of adult continuing education classes and college programs; Saint John’s College, which is a unique great books college teaching its student how to think; Santa Fe School of Cooking; Southwestern College offering innovative therapeutic advanced degrees; The Santa Fe Institute offering interdisciplinary thought; and many, many more.

358. Only place in the world with Zozobra, allowing you to burn your worries away and celebrate!

339 to 340. Kid friendly! The Children’s Museum offers days of enjoyment with a climbing wall, plants, animals, crafts, and activities. Little people are welcome everywhere else too. And Warehouse 21 offers a great space with music, technology and community for young adults.

341. Pet-friendly! From restaurants with water bowls for your pets, hotels that offer occupancy and great care services, your fur family is welcome.

342. New Mexico’s Capitol City, bringing concern for our State economic and social welfare alive.

343. The Round House not only honors the kiva style architecture of Native Americans spiritual and educational buildings, it is also home to a curated collection of every type of art from New Mexico in its hallways and offices. You are welcome to tour for free.

344 to 345. Red, Green or Christmas!? New Mexico is known for our chili, which adds to our unique dining and cultural richness. Green chili stew, or enchiladas with red, it’s special.

346 to 367. Music indoors and out! Live music on the Plaza and in the Railyard all summer long, The Lensic with local and national shows, Tiny’s with live music daily, The Cowgirl with its wonderful outdoor patio, intimate La Riena and Gig Santa Fe with jazz, all offer venues you will enjoy. There’s also the Opera, Santa Fe Symphony, Chamber Music with something for everyone.

368 to 418. The Santa Fe Margarita Trail, with 50 special margaritas all over town! Please try them on different nights!

419. The Turquoise Trail is alive with history that takes you through Cerrillos, an old mining town with my favorite tavern in town, The Black Bird, to Madrid, a charming town offering restaurants and galleries that take you back in time.

420 to 425. Truly Unique Architecture. Adobe style was not started in Santa Fe, but our city elevated this handcraft to a respected and green category of construction. We also have Territorial style, Modern, Spanish, and many more in our authentic building landscapes.

426 to 453. Festivals for the Arts and Culture! Indian Market, Spanish Market, the International Folk Art Market, Winter Market, the Santa Fe International Film Festival, The Wine and Chili Fiesta, and our Christmas Eve farolito walk on Canyon Road bring the world to our community all year long.

454 to 460. The Chocolate Trail enjoys six different stops from drinking chocolates at Kakawa to the Chocolate Maven with the best chocolate cake ever.

461 to 710. Shopping in over 250 exquisite, independent boutiques and charming stores with custom jewelry, clothing, boots, hats, home goods, foods and toys!

461 to 482. Rowleys Farmhouse Ales has garnered national accolated, and the town enjoys 20 more breweries,

483. A Spiritual Center. The Land of Enchantment is not complete with mention of the sacredness of this land, how it has been a spiritual center since it began and continues to be so today. Whether you see it in the sunset, a church or the people, Santa Fe is the city of holy faith that can bring peace to your spirit and make you feel welcome.
